{"id":364,"date":"2016-10-05T00:40:21","date_gmt":"2016-10-05T00:40:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dei.fe.up.pt\/mm-xx\/?p=364"},"modified":"2021-05-18T11:58:18","modified_gmt":"2021-05-18T10:58:18","slug":"pedrorebelo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dei.fe.up.pt\/mm-xx\/pedrorebelo\/","title":{"rendered":"<b>Pedro Rebelo<\/b>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/pure.qub.ac.uk\/portal\/files\/2825070\/PedroRebelo_Portraitsm.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"260\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Pedro Rebelo \u00e9 compositor, artista sonoro e performer e trabalha predominantemente em m\u00fasica de c\u00e2mara, improvisa\u00e7\u00e3o e instala\u00e7\u00e3o sonora. \u00c9 atualmente Professor catedr\u00e1tico na Queen\u2019s University Belfast e investigador colaborador do INET-md.<\/p>\n<p>Em 2002 terminou o seu doutoramento na University of Edinburgh onde desenvolveu trabalhos de investiga\u00e7\u00e3o em m\u00fasica e arquitetura.<\/p>\n<p>As suas obras refletem a sua abordagem ao design e \u00e0 pr\u00e1tica creativa numa compreens\u00e3o alargada da cultura contempor\u00e2nea e das tecnologias emergentes.<\/p>\n<div><b>Palestra:<\/b><b>\u00a0Participatory Sonic Arts<\/b><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>This talk will introduce methodologies and strategies associated with recent participatory sonic arts projects in the UK (Sounds of the City, Belfast),\u00a0 Brazil (Som da Mar\u00e9, Rio de Janeiro) and Portugal (Sou Cigano, Castelo Branco). These projects explore how sound is related to ideas of place, identity and the everyday. Participatory strategies rooted in authors such as Paulo Freire and notions of relayed creativity (Georgina Born) inform this work which aims to assert sonic arts as a vehicle for social intervention, documentation and change.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>These projects have identified the power of sound when in comes to contested space, territorial politics and conflict. Belfast\u2019s sonic histories reveal both segregated and shared conditions, articulated by sound memories and stories. Rio favela\u2019s territorial conflicts manifest themselves in sound as events such as military occupations are meant to control local discourse and politics. The gypsy community in Castelo Branco shares their aural knowledge which is an integral part of nomadic life. The sonic arts function as an environment in which to explore these tensions of identity and territory in the context of everyday life.
