The PAINTER project consists in the implementation of a collaborative framework for the creation and edition of virtual environments using VR and AR devices.

The purpose is to explore new interaction paradigms for content creation within virtual reality, supported by augmented reality tools and procedural content generation. The main solution consists of a centralized virtual simulation system, accessible to VR/AR devices, smartphones, or other interaction devices, and connected simultaneously.

This framework is divided into three main modules:

  1. Content edition in VR: Allow users to explore and edit their creations in an immersive environment.
  2. VR-AR interaction: Allow users to collaborate within the same virtual environment using different devices. Real objects and interactions will be mapped to the virtual world.
  3. Procedural content creation: Users may obtain content procedurally created from multiple data sources, in order to more quickly grow 3D scenes for virtual environments.
