Every year the Bachelor and Master degrees in Information Science come together to carry out an initiative that promotes the dissemination of Information Science in the student and business communities, the Information Science Day (Jornadas de Ciência da Informação).
This year the XVI edition is held, with the theme: “Information Management: 20 years of teaching at the University of Porto”, in the auditorium of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto.
Throughout the day we will have the presence of several speakers and the testimony of alumni who will help us to discuss the theme of this edition.
The XVI Information Science Conference celebrates the 20 years of the former Master in Information Management, as well as the 10 years of the actual Master in Information Science.
To celebrate this milestone we will have the presence of Tom Wilson, Professor Emeritus of the University of Sheffield whose work has promoted broad advances in Information Management, to hold the opening keynote.
The reception of the participants will begin at 8:30 next to the auditorium of the Faculty of Engineering.
Participation in the Conference is free although registration is required.

This year, the Masters in Multimedia celebrates 20 years of existence, and to celebrate this multidisciplinary course at the University of Porto, the Multimedia community, in its various specializations – Technologies, Culture and Arts, Interactive Music and Sound Design and Education, will come together at the Engineering College of the University of Porto from the 2nd to the 5th of November. It will be a time of celebration, reflection and opportunity for new paths!

Aimed at the University of Porto community, Masters alumni, invited individuals and the general public with an interest in the topics addressed, this event aims to bring together former and current students, teachers and researchers, companies and entities related to the area, in a series of activities, with emphasis on guest lectures, workshops, a Jobshop, Game Jam, among others that intend to celebrate this long path in an increasingly relevant area.

Next Wednesday, on the 22nd of June at 2:30 pm in room B008 at FEUP, there will be a presentation of the projects for the Computer Game Development Course at MIEIC, which also includes the participation of students from Seminars Design II, from the Communication Design Degree at FBAUP, and students of Sound Design for Digital Media, from the Master in Multimedia at UP.

The presentation is open to the community, however, it is necessary to register in the form below until Tuesday, the 21st, for logistical reasons.

And because Engineering is not just for men, FEUP, in partnership with Forum Student, launched the “Job: Engineer” initiative.

The purpose is to demystify the paradigm that this career is aimed only at men, using the testimony of FEUP students and alumni for this purpose. These accompany FEUP to Portuguese high schools, with the aim of attracting more and more female students to study Engineering.
